Profiting From Clean Sales Page DesignOnce you get people to your sales page, the last thing you want is to lose them because of poor page design. Am I right? Ok then, let's go over some of the do's and don'ts in creating a good sales page. NO DISTRACTIONS If you want your sales copy to do its job, people need to be able to focus on it without other distractions. Slow loading graphics can be a distraction as can odd color or font choices. Sales pages are NOT the place to get artistic and creative. Keep your design simple. Use dark text on a light background so it can be easily read. Black on white may not be unique, but if it gets the job done who cares? You're out to make sales not win any web design awards. Use easy to read fonts of normal size as well. Yes, upsize and bold your headlines, even your sub-headlines, but do not use large text or all capitals extensively throughout your text. Bold text, underlining, and italics should be used sparingly and only to highlight the major points of your message. Done correctly, people will ONLY focus on what you are saying and NOT on how your message is delivered. AVOID UNRELATED CONTENT Focus on the sales message for the product or service at hand. Don't include links or banners to other products. Sales pages have ONE specific purpose -- leading people to the order button. Don't confuse the issue by including references to other topics. KEEP THE ORDER PROCESS SIMPLE Do NOT make people go in search of your order button. Make it highly visible. As well, clearly state the cost of your product, any bonuses or guarantees that go along with it, and available payment options all together. Make the entire ordering process as straight forward as possible. WHITE SPACE - THE KEY TO CLEAN DESIGN Believe it or not, but sometimes a little blank space is all you need to clean things up. An overcrowded page looks untidy, mismanaged, and altogether not trustworthy. These are not the kinds of feelings you want to create in people you are hoping will soon be purchasing a product from you! Take the time to review your sales pages. Keep the above suggestions in mind and see if creating a cleaner sales page design won't make a difference for you. =========================================================== © 2004 MarketingLifestyle.com.
